Important questions about Hypnosis
Many people have strong misconceptions about hypnosis because all they know about it is what they have seen on TV or in a stage show. Here I answer some of the questions people often have:
1. What does it feel like to be hypnotized?
During hypnosis you are relaxed and aware of everything that happens, in fact you may feel a sense of hyper-awareness and you hear everything around you. Some people describe it as an intense feeling of refreshing calm. You will normally remember everything that happens during the session.
2. Can Hypnosis hurt me?
No. You are always in control and no one could ever make you do or say anything that you do not wish to do while you are hypnotized. If someone tried to give you a suggestion, which went against you moral beliefs, you would come out of the state of hypnosis on your own.
3. What if I don’t ever wake up?
You must give your consent to be put under hypnosis so all you have to do to “wake up” is to open your eyes and you will feel completely alert. There is no way another person could hypnotize you or keep you hypnotized against your will.
4. Is hypnosis a miracle cure?
No, Hypnosis is not a miracle cure. It is a tool to behavior modification that can be used for vocational or avocational improvement and works with the persons own internal, unconscious powers resulting in powerful lasting changes.
